I hold two masters’ degrees (one in library science and one in early childhood education), a specialist degree in library science, and a Ph.D. in instructional systems technology. I have also spent a lot of time working on and involved in projects outside of my academic programs because at a certain level knowing (knowing what) isn’t enough. You have to learn by doing it (knowing how). In addition, much learning happens outside of classrooms and/or textbooks (non-formal learning). I have also developed deep expertise in the area of my interests; such as teaching, librarianship, and sports performance (knowing how to be). I recognize that learning involves all these ways of knowing and learning has been my life-long pursuit.
I am interested in:
- Expertise
- Human performance technology
- Situated cognition
- Problem-based learning
- Gesture-based learning
